سری جدید استوریج های HP 3PAR All-Flash

Today HP made a series of announcements around its 3PAR StoreServ Storage family. These announcements include lowering the price of flash capacity, new highly scalable all-flash arrays, and flash-optimized data services. These new innovations are aimed at accelerating the adoption off all flash in datacenters.

As we’ve seen over the past few years, flash technology is continuing to be adopted in many areas. With their increased density, performance, and predictability, all-flash arrays will continue to grow, in fact IDC forecasts that flash arrays will see a 46% compound annual growth rate over the next five years. Customers are looking to extend the benefits of flash into the datacenter.

One of the biggest hurdles to adopting flash technology is the price. However the price of flash is dropping at a fairly steady rate. HP states that they can now offer flash technology for $1.50 per usable GB with the introduction of an ultra-dense and scalable all-flash array family, the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage 20000. The 3PAR StoreServ Storage 20000 family can scale out to 8 nodes, can consolidate up to 280TB into a single 2U chassis, and up to 5.5PB in a single floor tile, according to HP this is 85% less space than traditional arrays. The new family is perfect for customers looking to consolidate their datacenters. The other step HP has taken to get flash prices down is the introduction of a high capacity 3.84TB SSD.

The 3PAR StoreServ Storage 20000 family comes in two models, the 20850 and the 20800. Both models support unified block and file workloads as well as object access for cloud-developed application consolidation. Both models are also built on the HP 3PAR Gen5 Thin Express ASIC. The 20850 can deliver 3.2 million IOPS at sub-millisecond latency and over 75 GB/s of sustained throughput. And the 20800 can scale up to 15PB of capacity.

HP is also announcing several new software innovations to ease the adoption of their new flash arrays into datacenters. The first is 3PAR Persistent Checksum, which has data validation capabilities to protect against flash media and transmission errors as data moves from HP ProLiant Servers through the fabric and to the 3PAR StoreServ storage array. This software is powered by HP 3PAR Gen5 Thin Express ASIC and ensures data from the server to the array.

HP has released 3PAR Remote Copy support that enables asynchronous streaming replication. This gives users replication that optimizes latency, distance, and recovery. This remote copy software is especially suited for all-flash environments. Asynchronous streaming eliminates the overhead of synchronous replication, provides near-exact data copy with RPOs, and do so in a matter of seconds. Customers can also combine 3PAR Remote Copy software with the Alcatel-Lucent 1830 Photonic Services Switch delivering synchronous replication over fibre infrastructure up to 130 kilometers with in-flight encryption to reduce business risk. HP is also announcing integration of its 3PAR Remote Copy software with HP StoreOnce Recovery Manager Central.

And finally HP is also announcing native storage federation capabilities within HP 3PAR StoreServ 20000 Storage systems. Using HP 3PAR Peer Motion, customers can create storage federations across multiple arrays, with non-disruptive, bi-directional data movement, up to 60PB of usable capacity, and performance of over 10 million IOPS and 300GB/s bandwidth. Workloads can be moved between members of a federation to rebalance storage resources and optimize performance with a single click. HP now supports migration from Hitachi Data Systems TagmaStore Network Storage Controller, Universal Storage Platforms , and Virtual Storage Platforms Storage systems in addition to EMC VMAX, EMC VNX, and EMC CLARiiON CX4 storage systems.
