مفهوم A+
مدرك A+ بيانگر وجود يك تخصص عمومي درباره سخت افزار در شخص صاحب اين مدرك بوده و وي به عنوان تكنسين سخت افزار كامپيوتر شناخته مي شود. براي شركت در دوره هاي آمادگي كسب اين مدرك، شركت كامپتيا حداقل ۵۰۰ ساعت تجربه قبلي آشنايي و كار با سخت افزار كامپيوترهاي شخصي را توصيه مي كند. از نكات برجسته اين دوره و مدرك مربوط به آن، اين است كه بسياري از شركت هاي معتبر توليدكننده سخت افزار كامپيوتر، گذراندن آن را به كاربران خود و كساني كه قصد دارند در زمينه هايي مثل مونتاژ كامپيوتر فعاليت كنند توصيه مي نمايند.
در حالي كه در اين دوره به هيچ آيتم خاصي كه محصول كارخانه خاصي باشد اشاره نشده و صرفاً قطعات و قسمت هاي مختلف يك كامپيوتر از لحاظ فني مورد بررسي قرار مي گيرند. همچنين علاوه بر اين موارد، نحوه نصب سيستم عامل، تنظيم، پيكربندي سخت افزار در آن و آماده نمودن يك دستگاه كامپيوتر براي اتصال به شبكه از جمله تجاربي است كه يك داوطلب كسب مدرك A+ بايد دارا باشد. هم اكنون بيش از يكصد شركت توليدي و يا آموزشي، مدرك A+ را به عنوان پيش نياز براي كار يا كسب مدارك خود معرفي نموده اند و شركت هاي معتبري چون مايكروسافت، HP، سيسكو، آي بي ام و بسياري ديگر در سايت خود از مدرك مذكور به عنوان يك مدرك پايه اي جهت پرداختن به امور فني يك كامپيوتر نام برده اند.
