This is the second article about EMC VNX (simulator) and VMware View. In this one we’ll see how to configure the control station :
Just to be clear, I’m absolutely not a VNX specialist so I show there the easiest way and not necessary the most efficient to configure the VNX.
So, Start IE or Firefox (or what ever you want…) and log on to the Control Station IP (eg : 192.168.98.35 in my case) :
Trust everything that appear and logon as « root » and password « nasadmin » (for real VNX it should sysadmin/sysadmin) :
1 – Select your VNX simulator/system :
2 – Select « System » then « Setup Wizard for File »
3 – Click « Next »
4 – Validate Control Station « hostname »
5 – Enter DNS domain name and DNS IPs :
6 – Re-Enter Domain Name and set it as first (I presume you can simply remove localdomain) :
7 – Enter NTP server (in my case I used my domain controller after modifying NTP server type from NT5DS to NTP).
Note : it’s really important that your VNX is correctly configured with NTP server as Kerberos authentication will failed if time difference is too high between your VNX and your Domain Controller and so you’ll not be able to join the domain.
8 – Validate Time Zone, date and time :
9 – Activate required licenses :
10 – Submit configuration:
All steps must be green :
Ok, so now we have our control station fully configured… next step consist of configuring our Data Mover (to stay simple we’ll use server_2 instead of creating a Virtual Data Mover (VDM).
Let’s go to Part 3 – Configuring VNX Data Mover (Simulator)
