Pre-installation preparation
- Uninstall any existing antivirus software for Microsoft ISA Server / Forefront TMG (including older versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus) from the target server.
- Make sure the server meets the system requirements.
- The user account performing the installation requires permissions corresponding to one of the following roles:
- Microsoft ISA Server / Forefront TMG array administrator
- Microsoft ISA Server / Forefront TMG enterprise administrator
- Prepare an SQL server
- Make sure the data exchange is possible between the server with installed Microsoft SQL Server DBMS and the server you are going to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus to.
Installing the application on a sever
Below is a guide to complete Kaspersky Anti-Virus installation on a server.
To install the application on a server:
- Run the kav4isa_8.5.xxxx.ee_en.exe installer, where xxxx is version number.

Setup wizard checks availability of additional components required to install the application on the server. - The next step displays the License Agreement. You should agree to continue the installation.
- In the Choose setup type step select Complete to install Security center and Administration console on the server.
It is impossible to install a Secure server without an Administration console.
- In case of installing on a standalone server or on the first server of an array, you should indicate an application installation folder on the Select folder step. In case of installing on the second, etc… servers of an array, the folder chosen for the first server of the array is displayed.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus should be installed on the same disk with Microsoft ISA Server and Forefront TMG.
- On the Select data storage folder step, you should indicate a folder on the hard disk to store the data generated by Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Click Change to choose another data folder.
- The Configuring connection to the database step is available when installing the application on a standalone server or on the first server of an array.
This step allows configuring connection settings used by Kaspersky Anti-Virus for connecting to the database to store backup storage objects and security server statistics. If no such database has been created during the pre-installation phase, setup wizard creates one while installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
Enter the SQL server name in the SQL Server name field, or select an SQL server manually via the Browse button.
Enter the backup and statistics database name in the Database name field (KAV4ISATMG by default). You can either select an existing database on the selected SQL server or create a new one.
Select user authentication mode for the server.
If you are using an existing database, you should select a user account permitted to read and write data in the database.
If you are creating a new database, you should select a user account permitted to crete and deploy databases, as well as to read and write data in the database.
- The Create remote management rule step is available when installing the application on a standalone server or on the first server of an array.
The following rules are created during installation:
- ISA / TMG Firewall Policy rule in Microsoft ISA Server / Forefront TMG server firewall policy
- Windows Firewall rule (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 / Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 only)
You can configure a port to connect a remote Administration console to the server by entering the port number number in the TCP port field. It is 5000 by default.
The created rule is activated automatically.
- Once you have configured all the settings, click Install to start copying files and installing the application.
It is necessary to restart the Microsoft Firewall service when installing an registering Kaspersky Anti-Virus filters.The wizard window will then display a message confirming successful installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
- Click Finish to close the Setup wizard window.
In case of installing on a standalone server or on the first server of an array, the Initial configuration wizard gets started automatically immediately after installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
The Initial configuration wizard allows activating Kaspersky Anti-Virus activation and performing a centralized configuration of antivirus database updates.
