ریستارت نمودن iLO هنگ از طریق دستور
P Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) is an awesome feature available on HP Proliant ML/DL/BL Servers. iLO helps you to manage server remotely and can be be a lifesaver in many instances. HP Blade Servers use Integrated Lights-out feature and this will help you to administer your Proliant Blade servers which is installed in C7000 or C3000 c-Class enclosures.
Though iLO is an awesome feature from HP, sometimes it gives random errors and may start freezing. In this situation, it will become necessary to reset the iLO of your blade server. The easiest way to reset iLO is by using the Reset button available in the web interface of iLO. But, what if the iLO GUI is frozen? then your next option will be to use the command line interface of iLO.
In this article, we will learn how to reset a hung iLO session by using command line mode (CLI). Please note that there are alternate ways to reset iLO on a blade server, but today we will discuss how to reset iLO of a HP Blade Server using Command Line (CLI) interface.
In the case of HP C7000 and C3000 blade enclosures, HP Onboard Administrator (HP OA) manages all blade servers installed in the enclosure. HP OA talks to all the blade servers and it establishes a trust relationship with ILO of each blade server installed in the enclosure. So, if you wish to reset ILO of a HP blade server, then you can do it through HP Onboard Administrator Command Line Mode (HP OA CLI).
HP Onboard Administrator supports Command line interface through SSH and Telnet protocols. In order to connect to Onboard Administrator, you need to use some tool. Here, I will use a tool called Putty and connect to the Onboard Administrator over SSH protocol.
Putty is a simple tool which can be used to connect devices over telnet, SSH and Serial interfaces. If you never used the HP Onboard Administrator Command line mode and wanted to know how to access the command line mode of OA, then please follow below said steps carefully.
NOTE: You can use any tool or utility which would allow you to connect using SSH or Telnet. My favorite is Putty and it can be downloaded from here.
Once you launch Putty, enter the IP address of Onboard Administrator (here my IP is 10.20.27.50), under Connection Type, select SSH. Then click on Open button.
Once you click Open button, you will receive a black window as shown below.
Enter the username of Onboard Administrator here. My OA user name is Administrator.
Enter the password of Onboard Administrator. Once you enter the password, press Enter key.
Now you are at the OA Command Line screen. You can start entering commands here. Let us go ahead and experiment the commands which we need to execute to reset iLO of HP Blade server.
How to reset iLO hung Session via Command Line:
Login to Command Line mode of HP Onboard Administrator. You need to know the Onboard Administrator IP address and Password to successfully login to HP OA CLI. Once you logged in to OA CLI, you need to execute below provided command to connect to the iLO of blade Server.
CONNECT SERVER [bay number]
Once you connect to the Server, then you need to execute CD /MAP1 command.
CD /MAP1
Now you can reset iLO by typing RESET command:
RESET
Here, I am going to reset the iLO of a Blade server which is installed in bay number 2 of the HP c-Class enclosure. So, accordingly we have to use number 2 at the place of bay number. Here is the command you need to use:
CONNECT SERVER 2
At the HP Onboard Administrator Command Line (CLI) prompt, enter the above provided command. The CLI screen will look the one provided below:
NOTE: You could also reset the iLO of HP ML/DL Proliant Servers using iLO CLI. If you know the IP address of iLO, then you can SSH or Telnet to the iLO of the server and reset iLO when needed. Once you login to the iLO CLI, run the command CD /MAP1 and Reset, it will reset your iLO of ML/DL Proliant Servers.
If you are using blade server, then you need to type CONNECT SERVER 2 and press Enter key on keyboard, it will start connecting to the iLO of the blade server. You can also see the iLO IP address, Server name and the server status at the same screen (please check below provided screenshot). Once iLO of server is connected, the prompt will be change to </>hpiLO-> (See below again).
Now type the command CD /MAP1 at the </>hpiLO-> prompt:
CD /MAP1
For your better understanding, please check below provided screenshot.
Once you enter the CD /MAP1 command, the screen may look like the one provided below. The Prompt will change to </MAP1>hpiLO->
Now you can reset iLO of your Server. To reset iLO of the server, type the RESET command at the</MAP1>hpiLO-> prompt (see below provided screenshot):
RESET
Once you enter the RESET command, the CLI window will look like the one provided below.
Now iLO of the server will be reset. It may take 1-2 minutes for the iLO to come back online. Once iLO is reset, try accessing the server again. Hopefully, your iLO should be working now.
New method to reset iLO of a Blade Server:
If you are using latest version of HP Onboard Administrator firmware, then there is a new way to reset iLO of the blade server installed. HP introduced “reset ilo” command to make life easier for us. I have not seen this command listed in the user guide but when I tried it worked for me. Please try running below said command:
Reset ILO [bay number of server]
For an example, if you want to reset iLO of a blade server installed enclosure bay number 5, then you can try following command:
RESET ILO 5
If this method is not working on your Onboard Administrator, then always follow the the first method explained earlier in this article.
